In Terry Pratchett's book Guards! Guards!, the Patrician of the city of Ankh-Morpork is imprisoned in his own dungeon. He has trained the rats (made intelligent because they eat on the garbage dump behind Unseen University -a wizard's university) to fetch him books. Because they can't read, they bring him books on every subject under the sun.

I've always admired Vetinari, and I've taken this to heart - all knowledge is useful.
So I've started this blog, which could also be called "Today I learned that..."
As a freelance writer I'm asked on a daily basis to write articles on a wide variety of subjects, so I'm always learning something I didn't know. I shall share the new things I learn here.
